Where Rivers Run Green
This is my own feeling about leaving my home 12 years ago to come to live in America. The first 2 verses talk about each time I go home to visit Ireland, flying in across the country etc.
The chorus deals with the simplicity of life that I left at home. Life is great now, and I wouldn't trade my situation, but sometimes, things can be a little complicated and that makes me long for simplicity.
Verse 3: "If they question who I am".. talks about the reaction of some people in Ireland to people like myself when I return home. They sometimes scrutinize you to see if you have lost your accent, or mock you if you wear a baseball hat. The truth is, I'm more Irish than most people at home because I carry that identity with me every day. It means more to me.
Verse 4 refers to the conflict inside when you are separated from your home/loved ones. It's a little harsh because I now love America too and I don't want to go home. When I first came here I felt "torn".
"Losing sight" refers to losing my Irishness etc, my identity as an Irishman. However, as I said, I still feel as Irish as anyone living at home in Ireland... at least in the most important ways I do.

When this life scares me
Into your arms I run
I run to your green fields
And your skies of vacant sun
As the shadows crawl across your face
A soft rain does fall
And I can see you from the clouds in the sky
I have come to heed your call
Ageless streets, A simple life
Rainy Days and Rainy nights
Oh how long must I fight this fight?
I'm losing sight of all my dreams
Where rivers run green
When first I left your warm embrace
My life had just begun
And if they question who I am
I will answer I am your son
My heart, it longs for rest and peace
But I find myself in two (torn in two)
Torn between a place that I love
And what I have to do
Ageless streets, a simple life
Those rainy days bring those rainy nights
Oh how long must I fight this fight?
I'm losing sight of all you mean
Where rivers run green
Oh how long must I fight this fight?
I'm losing sight or so it seems
Where the rivers run green
Where the rivers run green
Where the rivers run green
Where the rivers run green
